I know very well, what bug fixing means and situation, that you need big rewrite for some bug fix is quite rare. We were able to survise so long, becase we were able to bug fix very fast. I am running MMO for 9 years and instant fixing of bugs is must.Who does not fix bugs in hours/days is out of bussiness very fast. The fact I did ship a great app which is charting rather nicely on appstores, (which is unexpected use of unity to begin with) shows it is more than capable as a product to deliver. I've noticed when I ask nicely, and give valid points, the staff do their best to squeeze in fixes or improvements where possible. It's privately held, and subject to the whims of no-one else. Having said that I think unity probably is more indie than you give it credit for. I think it's absurd it was even a launch feature. ![]() Attacking unity for piss poor umbra is something I can agree with. However, attacking unity for "bugs" which don't exist ie limited shader functionality does make you look stupid. I do it because I want my chosen development platform to be absolutely the best thing since sliced bread. Before anyone starts, you can see a number of posts by me which actually do criticise unity.
